Mitchell Adams Racing – #239
04.11.22
Mitchell is an 18yr old Trainee Chef from the Ards Peninsula, Co Down, whose passion is Quad Racing. Mitchell didn’t grow up in a Motorsport environment, his family’s passion was equestrianism.
Initially Mitchell raced youth grass tracks at club level, but as his experience grew, he also took on the challenge of competing in the MRA Ulster Quadcross Championship. When he made the move from the 100cc bike to 250cc bike at the age of 12years old, he was encouraged by his racing family to also compete in the Irish Quadcross Championship. This was a big step, not only learning how to handle a bigger, faster bike, but also taking on more challenging tracks North and South of the border.
At the start of the 2019 season Mitchell was determined to extend his race career further. He competed in British Championship rounds at Tandragee, Tinkerhill and with the help of family and sponsors, travelled across the Irish Sea to race some rounds at the Nett and British Championships at Dean Moore and Duns MX tracks. These weekends proved to be very successful with Mitchell picking up podium placings on each race day.
Over the years Mitchell has proven to be a competitive opponent and 2019 proved to be a very successful year with Mitchell picking up 2nd place in the Ulster and Irish Quadcross Championships Y3 group, and 2nd place in the Quad Racing Ireland Club Championship.
With Covid hitting the UK in early 2020 racing took a hard hit and the majority of racing was cancelled due to the restrictions imposed. Mitchell’s plans for 2020 didn’t play out as hoped, but that hadn’t damped his spirit.
The 2021 season brought a whole new challenge with Mitchell moving from 250cc Youth to the 450cc Senior Clubman group. Even in the uncertain times of pandemic, Mitchell was determined to keep moving forward with plans for the 2021. His Yamaha YFR 450R was purchased and had a total rebuild and was race tuned by Young’s Tuning Yard.
It was a steep learning curve for Mitchell, but with consistent riding and passion for the Sport Mitchell finished 2021 with;
2021 NETT Clubman Quadcross championship, placed 2nd overall
2021 MRA Ulster Clubman Quadcross Championship, placed 3rd overall
2021 Quad racing Ireland Club Championship, placed 3rd overall
2022 has been a very demanding year for not only the riders, but also their family, supporters and Sponsors with the pandemic still having an impact on daily living and expenses. Mechanical issues at the start of the season, saw Mitchell dropping precious points on a few race days, which made him more determined to push harder and it has paid off, with Mitchell achieving the following;
2022 Irish Clubman Quad cross Championship, 4 Sept in Clonroche, Wexford. Placed 1st overall
2022 Ulster clubman, Placed 2nd overall
2022 adult support nett championship, Placed 3rd overall
2023 will bring a new challenge with Mitchell’s achievements this year, he will be moving up a class to race with the Semi-experts in North & Southern Ireland and with the National Champs on the UK Mainland.
